... keep him and his wife Yolanda in your thoughts and prayers. I don't think they got a direct hit, but it's ugly all the same.

Detroit? No thanks I feel much, much safer here in Olongapo City.
On the plus side we don't have tornadoes or hail storms, to top that off no snow. What more could you ask for? ![]() -------------------- Chris

QUOTE(chrisretusn @ Oct 3 2006, 01:04 AM) That's like So. CA, though there are occasional hail storms near the San Bernardino mountains. Decades pass between times when hail falls near the coast. Earthquakes aren't all that bad compared to hurricanes and tornadoes, IMO. The structure around you may collapse (in the worst-case scenario) but all possessions are with you in the rubble if you've survived and inclement weather doesn't accompany the shaking. ![]() Hmmm. It's been awhile since anything shook here. I think we're overdue. -------------------- A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle. ▪ Erin Majors

Key words...."if you've survived". In 1991 when Mount Pinatubo blew it's top, on top of the shaking and all of the ash there was Typhoon Yunya. The Cataclysmic 1991 Eruption of Mount Pinatubo, Philippines, Fact Sheet 113-97 We are still effected by Pinatubo 15 years later. Still digging lahar out of river beds to lower the risk of flooding. There are still many abandon buildings from Pinatubo. In fact there is one right next door to the American Legion and across the street in the back. Not to mention several in my barangay.
